"introduction"

Hello. Bonjour, Hola, Salve, Moi.
Here is where I am supposed to tell you, the reader, some stuff about me, the writer. Here goes.
The basics: My name's Kara Krause, and I go to Greenhills School in Ann Arbor, Michigan. It's a pretty small private school (compared to the closest public high schools schools, it's utterly minascule). I'm a junior.
Speaking of school, it starts in exactly one week. I'm partially nervous, partially excited...I'm actually very excited. I think this year will be my hardest and most challenging academically, or at least that's what everyone is telling me. No pressure or anything.

Well, what I've been keeping myself ridiculously busy with for the past few weeks is applying for AFS; I plan on travelling abroad my senior year.
I think it'll be a really great experience, one that I'll remember for the rest of my life. I like languages. I really, really like languages. This year I'm taking Spanish, French, and Latin. I also know some Finnish. If it were up to me, my school day would consist of about 5 language classes.
Okay, back to reality here.
I really, really like travelling too. I want to see the world.
I know a few older people who have been exchange students, and my cousin is an exchange student in Germany right now, actually.
I've also talked to older people who will say something like, "I wish I did that when I was your age!"
In short, I don't want to grow up to be one of those people.
So, that's why I've been spending so much time and energy into this application which seems to be never-ending; because I truely think it'll be worthwile, memorable, unique, rewarding experience.
So..AFS isn't actually free, despite my desire for it to be so. It's actually quite expensive.
I really would appreciate any sort of donation-small, tiny, large (please! yes!)...but know that this is a worthwhile investment. I'll be updating this blog moderately frequently. Hopefully while I'm in my host country too (Definetly a must. Although I'm not sure about what the internet situation will be).
THANK YOU SO MUCH. GRACIAS, GRATIAS, KIITOS, MERCI BEAUCOUP.

Until next time,
Kara Krause
